The Alumni of the Canadian Angler Hall of Fame annually nominates and votes on new inductees. The criteria that the nominations are based upon are:
Angler: an avid angler, be it recreational, competitive or otherwise.
Advocate:a person who speaks or writes in support or defence of the industry.
Media:the means of communication, radio, television, newspaper and/or magazines that reach or influence people widely.
Industry Leader:a person who has taken the initiative to help the industry in a positive way.
Conservation groups are annually invited to contribute a submission to the Canadian Angler Hall of Fame Alumni. These submissions are then voted upon by the members of the CAHF Alumni. The winning project is awarded a monetary donation to the conservation group for their outstanding efforts and contributions to conservation.
